Cher was born in California on 20 May in 1946. Her father was Armenian American. Her mother was Cherokee, English and French. Cher’s parents divorced and she lived usually with her mother. Her childhood wasn’t always very happy. Her mother didn’t have money and Cher had to live with other people for some time. Cher had big dyslexia and she left school when she was 16.

She started to sing in 1962. She had some singles but they weren’t very good. It was in summer 1965 when her first hit “I Got You Babe” was played and she became famous over night. Her carrier is very long and not everything was always perfect but she continued. Her big number one hit came in 1998 with the song “Believe”. It was 25 years after her last number one hit.

Cher is extremely rich. People say that she has about 600 million dollars. She gives a lot of money to poor people too.

This is the song “Believe”.

After love After love After love After love

No matter (it isn’t important) how hard I try
You keep pushing me aside (away)
And I can´t break through
There´s no talking to you
So sad that you´re leaving
It takes time to believe it
But after all is said and done
You´re gonna (you will) be the lonely one (person)

Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say
I really don´t think you´re strong enough, no
Do you believe in life after love?
I can feel something inside me say
I really don´t think you´re strong enough, no

What am I supposed (should) to do?
Sit around and wait for you
Well I can´t do that
There´s no turning back
I need time to move on
I need love to feel strong
Because I´ve got time to think it through
And maybe I´m too good for you, oh

Well I know that I´ll get through this
Because I know that I am strong
I don´t need you anymore (more)
I don´t need you anymore
I don´t need you anymore
No I don´t need you anymore
