Don’t Worry, Be Happy- level 2

The song “Don’t Worry, Be Happy” was written by Bobby McFerrin in 1988. Bobby McFerrin is from New York. Only some people knew him before this song. The song was a big hit all over the world. It was played on radios in every country.

But from 1989 Bobby McFerrin stopped playing the song at his concerts. Why? It is simple. In 1988 George Bush used this song. He wanted to be a president. He used this song in his show. But George Bush didn’t ask Bobby McFerrin if it is possible. Bobby McFerrin didn’t like when George Bush used his song in his show and protested against it. It didn’t help. Later he openly said that didn’t want George Bush to be the president and stopped using this song at his concerts.

Bobby McFerrin has more great songs and he is a fantastic musician. But the best song is “Don’t Worry, Be Happy”.

This is the text:

Here is a little song I wrote
You might want to sing it note for note
Don't worry be happy
In every life we have some trouble
When you worry you make it double
Don't worry, be happy

Ain't got no place to lay your head (ain’t = haven’t)
Somebody came and took your bed
Don't worry, be happy
The land lord say your rent is late
He may have to litigate
Don't worry, be happy

Look at me I am happy
Don't worry, be happy
I’ll give you my phone number
When you worry call me
I’ll make you happy
Don't worry, be happy

Ain't got no cash, ain't got no style
Ain't got no girl to make you smile
But don't worry be happy
Cause when you worry
Your face will frown
And that will bring everybody down
So don't worry, be happy (now)

Don't worry, be happy
Don't worry don't do it, be happy
Put a smile on your face
Don't bring everybody down like this
Don't worry, it will soon pass
Whatever it is
Don't worry, be happy
