Dust Storm – level 3

06/07/2011 18:24

Date: 5th July 2011

Place: Phoenix, Arizona, USA.

There has been probably the biggest dust storm in recent years in the south-east part of the United States. As you can see on the video the dust storm was coming very fast and within minutes the city of Phoenix was covered with dust. In some parts of the city visibility was zero and some of the local airports had to be closed. It was also very difficult to drive and the drivers had to pull over and wait until the storm has gone. The wind was up to 112 kilometres per hour strong and the dust cloud was about 48 kilometres wide and 1500 metres high. Some people lost electricity for some time. Fortunately there have been no casualties reported.
