I am spending my time – level 1

This is a beautiful and sad song. It is from Roxette. Roxette are from Sweden. They started to be very popular in Sweden in 1986. They wanted to be popular in more countries too. They translated some songs into English. But people outside Sweden didn’t listen to their songs. In 1988 they prepared an album with a song “The Look”. In 1988 people outside Sweden still didn’t know them. But an American student Dean Cushman was on holiday in Sweden in 1988. And he took a copy of the album with “The Look” song to America. He gave it to one radio station. The song started to be very popular. More radio stations started to play this song. Roxette started to be very popular in the world.

Today we play for you a song “Spending My Time” from 1991.

What's the time?
Seems its already morning
I see the sky, it’s so beautiful and blue
The TV's on
But the only thing showing is a picture of you

Oh, I get up and make myself (me) some coffee
I try to read a bit (a little) but the story is too (very) thin (not interesting)
I thank the Lord (God) above
you're not here to see me
In shape (situation) I'm in

Spending my time
Watching the days go by
Feeling so small
I stare (look) at the wall
Hoping that you think of me too
I'm spending my time

I try to call but I don't know what to tell you
I leave a kiss on your answering machine
Oh, help me please
Is there someone (somebody) who can make me
Wake up from this dream?

Spending my time
Watching the days go by
Feeling so small
I stare at the wall
Hoping that you are missing (want to be with) me too

I'm spending my time
Watching the sun go down
I fall asleep to the sound
Of tears of a clown (comedian)
A prayer (wish) gone blind (didn’t happen)

I'm spending my time

My friends keep telling me
Hey, life will go on (continue)
Time will make sure I get over you

This silly (stupid) game of love you play, you win only to lose
