Whitney Houston was born on 9 August 1963 in the USA. Her family comes from more than one place. She is African American but also American Indian and Dutch (people from Holland). She has a fantastic voice and she won a lot of Grammy Awards. Whitney started to sing when she was 9 years old. She started to sing at church. Then she sang in nightclubs for some time with her mother. She was very good and some people offered her a music contract. But her mother wanted her to finish her school first.

Her first album was in 1985. She made a lot of successful albums but her best time came with her first film role in the film The Bodyguard with Kevin Costner in 1992. The soundtrack for this film won a lot of awards and is the best-selling woman album of all times. This is the best song from the soundtrack:

If I should stay
I would only be in your way
So I'll go but I know
I'll think of you every step of the way

And I will always love you, will always love you
My darling you
Bittersweet memories
That is all I'm taking with me
So good-bye, please don't cry
We both know I'm not what you, you need

And I will always love you
I will always love you

I hope life treats you kind
And I hope you have all you've dreamed of
And I wish you joy and happiness

But above all this I wish you love
