A small boy saved in Colombia - level 3, A12

An incredible escape for a three-year-old in Barranquilla, Colombia. Jean Pierre Silvera Artera was reported missing for 24 hours before rescuers searching city’s sewer system for a second time found the toddler, clinging on for dear life.

A major search operation was launched after the youngster vanished whilst playing with his brothers on building sites.

It was suspected he’d fallen down a drainage hole.

Police and ambulance workers searched the entire neighbourhood until Jean Pierre was eventually found. He was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical treatment.

Words from a higher level: sewer (channel for waste), toddler (very young child), cling on (hold on), whilst (while), drainage (system which takes dirty water away).
