25 October 1415, Agincourt, France - level 1
It was a big battle. The battle was in Agincourt. The battle was in the Hundred Years' War. The Englishmen were better than the Frenchmen. The Frenchmen lost a lot of men. The battle was on Friday, 25 October 1415. It was near Agincourt in northern France.
The boss of the Englishmen was their king, Henry V. They had only 6,000 men. These men were usually archers. The French king, Charles VI, didn’t come. He was very ill. The boss of the Frenchmen was Charles d’Albret. The Frenchmen had 36,000 men. They had much more men than the Englishmen. But the Englishmen were better. How was it possible?
The battle was in a very small area between two forests. It was raining. The ground was wet. The Frenchmen on the horses had a problem. The ground wasn’t good for horses. The Frenchmen didn’t ride their horses. They only walked. It was very difficult. They were heavy. They were tired. The English archers killed them easily. Only some Englishmen died. The Frenchmen lost 10,000 men. It was a catastrophe.
Later Henry V was married. His wife was the French king’s daughter. Their son was the next king of France.
The song in the video is about this battle.
