Big fire in California - level 2

Big fire in California - level 2

09-05-2013 06:00

There was a great fire in one Californian city. What used to be a good business turned into a large fire.

The place which was on fire made wooden pallets. The pallets burnt quickly along with other things. Thick black smoke could be seen from miles around. Firemen fought with the fire the whole Saturday afternoon. They used a lot of water - one thousand two hundred gallons per minute.

There have been a lot of wild fires in Southern California recently because of dry weather and the strong winds.

Interesting words: pallets (wooden frame used for moving heavy things), gallon (4.55 litres in the UK, 3.79 litres in the US).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
