Big wave in Portugal - level 1

Big wave in Portugal - level 1

16-01-2014 14:00

There are big waves in Portugal. People watch them from a beach. One wave is really big. It is not safe. The people see that this is bad. They start to run away. There are some roads. They are underwater.

There are storms in the Atlantic Ocean. The storms make these big waves. The waves are 60 feet (18 metres) tall.

One wave in Spain sweeps away a family. One person dies. Two people are missing. The situation in Spain is bad, also.

Difficult words: storm (very bad weather), sweep (move), missing (we don’t know where they are or if they are alive).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
