Birds stopped work - level 2

Birds stopped work - level 2

31-05-2013 14:00

A building project in a Chinese city was stopped because of some unexpected guests.

Thousands of small birds began to build their nests in the ground foundations which cover an area as large as a football pitch. Local people say the birds came because of good ground in the area. This is the kind of ground the birds normally would build nests in mud. They go south in winter but return north to have little birds.

The work on the building will start again in July when the young birds will be able to fly.

Interesting words: unexpected (surprising), nest (house of birds), pitch (field).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
