Boy saved from a hole - level 3

Boy saved from a hole - level 3

15-11-2013 06:00

A young boy has been rescued after falling down a manhole in east China.

The boy is thought to have slipped into the uncovered sewer on his way back from school. But he was quickly discovered and firefighters lowered safety ropes into the manhole and soon pulled him out to safety.

The boy escaped the accident with only minor injuries, much to the relief of his mother, who stood anxiously watching the rescue operation.

Difficult words: manhole (hole in the ground used to examine underground pipes), sewer (space under the ground where dirty water flows away), lower (move down), minor (small), relief (you are relieved when something bad ends well), anxiously (with fear).
