Boy’s dreams come true - level 3

Boy’s dreams come true - level 3

11-03-2016 07:00

The Afghan boy, who captured the Internet’s heart for customising a plastic bag into Lionel Messi shirt, has had his dreams come true after the footballer sent him the real deal personalised with his signature!

No hiding his smile, Murtaza Ahmadi proudly wears his new football jersey bearing Messi's famous number 10, as he has a kick about.

From a poor family in Ghazni and unable to afford a real Messi shirt, the 5 year-old got creative. The innovative use of a blue and white striped plastic bag to represent the Argentinian national team shirt struck at the heartstrings of many and made the little boy an online hit.

Messi, a goodwill ambassador for UNICEF, sent a package to Murtaza containing his two teams' soccer jerseys –  Argentina and Barcelona – and a ball, to symbolise a child's right to play.

Which clearly little Murtaza is putting into good practice.

Difficult words: customise (to change the way that you want it), real deal (a real thing), jersey (a sports shirt), bear (to have), innovative (unique), heartstrings (used in reference to one's deepest feelings), goodwill (good), ambassador (somebody who represents something).
