Bulls in the streets in Spain - level 2, A12

19-07-2012 18:00

There is a tradition in Spain. Every summer half-ton bulls are running through the streets of Pamplona in Spain during a summer festival. Brave sprinters run with the bulls. Some sprinters are not fast enough. They get caught by the bulls.

In the middle of the fun, the danger is very real. Every year over 200 runners are injured. The bulls step on them or they hit them with their horns.

The last person who died from injuries was in 2009. A total of 15 people have been killed since the festival began in 1924.

Words from a higher level: ton (1000 kilos), total (the final number).
