Doctors help a gorilla - level 2
A beautiful little baby gorilla was born in a zoo in California. Her start to life wasn’t easy, though. She was born by an emergency caesarian, and her lung had to be operated.
The zoo actually needed help from human neonatal specialists from the University of California. The work with human babies is identical to what they’ve done with the gorilla baby. The gorilla is stronger, and she can hold you with her hands, as well as feet.
The baby is getting better and the mother is doing fine, too. When the baby’s strong enough, she will be reunited with her family.
Difficult words: caesarian (operation in which a woman's body is cut open to take a baby out), neonatal (new baby), reunite (to come together again).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
How often do you visit a zoo?
