England won Falklands war - level 1, A12
The Falkland Islands are two big islands and many small islands. They are in the Atlantic Ocean near Argentina. European people first saw these islands in 1600. And no people lived there at that time. Now 3000 people live there. There were a lot of problems with these islands. Because Argentina and England wanted these islands.
From the year 1833 the islands were a part of England. But Argentina didn’t like it. Argentina took the Falkland Islands on 2 April 1982. But England didn’t like it. England sent ships and submarines to the islands. And the war started. It was only two months long and finished on 14 June 1982.
The British won. And the Falkland Islands are now their islands. 257 English people, 649 Argentine people and 3 Falkland people died in this war. England won but Argentina still say that it is not a part of England.
