Fight in parliament - level 2

07-05-2013 14:00

There was a fight in the Venezuelan parliament between Venezuela's government and its opposition members.

They fought because the opposition didn't like that they could not speak publicly. This right was taken from them because they didn't accept the new president's narrow victory.

An injured opposition member said that he was attacked from behind without any warning.

We don't know who started the fight. Both sides blamed the other. Numbers of politicians were injured. This incident illustrates the difficult political situation in Venezuela after the death of Hugo Chavez.

Interesting words: blame (say who did something bad), illustrate (show).
