Giraffe is born - level 1

Giraffe is born - level 1

04-02-2014 07:00

A giraffe is born in Devon, England. It is a rare type of a giraffe. People film the moment when she is born.

Giraffes stand when they give birth. The baby giraffe falls down. It doesn’t look safe, but it is OK. The fall helps to break the line between the baby and the mother. The mother then cleans the baby with her tongue.

A few hours later, the giraffe can run. The giraffe is one week old now. It is six feet tall (1.8 metres). Her mother is from Slovakia. Her father is from Denmark.

Difficult words: rare (there are not many giraffes like this), give birth (when the baby comes out of the mother’s body).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
