Greenpeace and Russia - level 2

Greenpeace and Russia - level 2

03-10-2013 06:00

Greenpeace activists were trying to get on an oil platform in Russia but they were stopped by Russian coastguards.

The activists were worried about the environment. They said that the oil companies are not careful enough. One oil company has already polluted the Alaskan Arctic and the activists don't want any more disasters.

Moscow accused the protestors of their aggressive and provocative behaviour. Russian leaders also want to talk with a Dutch politician who represents the Netherlands in Russia because Greenpeace is Dutch.

Difficult words: activist (person who wants to change something), pollute (make dirty), accuse (say that you think that somebody did something wrong).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
