Heavy rain in Sicily and Athens – level 1

Heavy rain in Sicily and Athens – level 1

26-02-2013 06:00

Heavy rains started problems in southern Europe. In Italy, strong waters were taking away cars. 50 litres of rain per square metre fell in half an hour. Hundreds of firefighters got called to go rescue people. Only one person needed real help.

In Athens, one woman died and many people were blocked in their cars. There was no electricity, streets were blocked and no cars could go.

Interesting words: southern (opposite northern), per (for), firefighter (fireman), got called (were called), rescue (save).
