Horses in Mexico - level 3

Horses in Mexico - level 3

11-09-2013 06:00

Twenty police horses have escaped from their trailer and stampeded through the streets in Mexico City.

The horses were to be deployed alongside riot police to control protests in the city, but instead bolted past drivers, damaging some vehicles.

"I was stopped at the traffic lights when I heard the noise of the horses and a horse hit the vehicle, fell and continued to run. There were about 25 horses running."

The horses were later rounded up by police. Eight suffered injuries to their hoofs.

Difficult words: trailer (pulled vehicle for moving things), stampede (panic and run fast), deploy (move into position), bolt (run away, usually from fear), round up (collect something in an organised way), hoof (black hard part of a horse's foot).
