Mexican tomb - level 2

Mexican tomb - level 2

14-03-2014 15:00

Archeologists in Mexico found a pre-Hispanic shaft tomb. It is 1,500 years old.

There is a sculpture of a shaman inside the structure. He is exactly at the entrance, and he holds a weapon. The shaman is believed to be protecting the tomb. Shamans are also believed to be guides for the dead in Meso-American cultures.

The tomb also contained the remains of children and small dogs. Archaeologists are currently checking six pots found inside. They want to know if there are some seeds in them.

Difficult words: shaft tomb (deep structure below the ground where people are buried), entrance (door), guide (person who helps with something).
