Oldest man - level 2

Oldest man - level 2

03-03-2014 15:00

A man from India claims to be the world’s oldest man. He has an ID card which mentions his date of birth as the 11th May 1896. That would make him almost 118 years old!

The man lives with a large family in a remote village, and he is still able to walk. He starts each day by reciting from a Hindu scripture. He believes that it cleans one’s body and soul.

What is his secret to a long and healthy life? He says that he eats simple food like vegetables and pulses. He has never touched meat or fish.

Difficult words: claim (say something that may be true), remote (very far from a city), village (small place where people live), scripture (holy book), clean (it makes you feel peaceful), pulses (seeds such as beans and peas).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
