Paris in China - level 2

Paris in China - level 2

23-08-2013 06:00

A tower that looks like the Eiffel Tower doesn't have to be the Eiffel Tower. The same applies to the whole of Paris.

When you're in China and you see the streets of Paris, don't be surprised. Chinese developers built a part of a city in the Parisian style. There are Parisian houses, sculptures, fountains and typical shops in this city. They might seem real, but they are all fake.

The city was all built in 2001, but today many of the shops are empty. Developers don't say how many empty spaces there are. The developers are sure that people will come to their Little Paris and live there happily soon.

Difficult words: applies (is true for), developer (person that builds something), sculpture (statue), fake (copy).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
