Parking for chestnuts - level 2

Parking for chestnuts - level 2

12-09-2013 14:00

A chain of car parks in England has introduced something interesting. Instead of paying with money, you can pay with chestnuts. One chestnut is worth 20 pence.

The chain has already collected over 1,500 chestnuts. The chain wants to help the environment, so the chestnuts will be used to plant new trees. These trees will offset their customers' CO2 emissions. What a great idea!

Locals like it very much, so we might see a lot of new trees in England soon.

Difficult words: chestnut (kind of a nut), offset (balance), emission (gas that comes out of the car).
