This 8-metre-long humpback whale is trying to free herself after getting trapped in a shark net off the Gold Coast in Australia.

Animal rescuers had the difficult task of cutting off the tangled nets from around her head and left pectoral fin.

When they first approached the whale, she dived to avoid them but they eventually managed to free her.

Two other whales were waiting nearby and rescuers say all three will carry on their journey north of Australia as part of their annual migration.

Interesting words: humpback whale (name of a whale), tangled (mixed in something), pectoral (connected with chest), annual (happening once a year).
