People saved a leopard – level 3

People saved a leopard – level 3

12-04-2013 14:00

An amazing rescue has been caught on camera in India's Gujarat state after a three-year-old leopard fell into an open well.

Forest wardens in the village of Aambyliya hoisted the big cat onto a small wooden frame called a charpoy. But following a struggle, the animal had to be tranquillized before being removed from the well completely.

Incidents such as this are not uncommon in India. With their natural habitats under threat, the animals are forced to move into human settlements, to try and find food.

Interesting words: warden (keeper), hoist (pull up), tranquillize (put to sleep by using a drug), habitat (natural home of an animal).
