Shoes, sandals and a pair of broken glasses were left at a Shanghai university after a visit from David Beckham. The football legend was followed by at least 500 fans when he visited the local university’s football team.

Students and fans pushed each other, climbed over vehicles and walls. They wanted to see their sporting hero but at least seven people were injured during the meeting because people were pushed up against a fence.

David Beckham is trying to help improve the reputation of Chinese football after big scandals in recent times.
