President Obama and Raul Castro - level 1

President Obama and Raul Castro - level 1

16-12-2013 06:00

President Obama goes onstage. He meets Raul Castro. Raul Castro is Cuba’s leader. President Obama wants to shake Castro’s hand.

Castro smiles. He wants to shake Obama’s hand, too. The two leaders shake hands. The handshake is a friendly thing.

The US presidents shake hands with Cuba’s leaders rarely. There are only two handshakes after 1959. There is this one. The second one happened in 2000.

Difficult words: stage (higher place where important people speak), leader (boss), rarely (not often).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
