Protests in Hong Kong - level 2

Protests in Hong Kong - level 2

06-10-2014 07:00

There are protests in Hong Kong. Many of the protesters are students. They protest because they want Hong Kong to be more democratic.

The students want one politician in particular to resign. If he doesn’t resign, they will start occupying government buildings.

These protests are the worst in Hong Kong since 1997. Police even used tear gas and pepper spray against the protesters.

Difficult words: politician (somebody who has power in a country), resign (stop working), tear gas (gas which hurts your eyes).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

Have you ever protested?
