Protests in Spain - level 2
The unemployment in Spain has never been worse. Twenty-five percent of its people are unemployed. This is a record and people protest in Spain. In the beginning, the people of Madrid started to protest peacefully but then it got bad and they fought with the police.
There were 1,000 demonstrators and 1,400 policemen where fourteen of them got injured. Fifteen people were arrested.
The Prime Minister of Spain will announce new reforms to help Spain's huge financial problems. However, it is the reforms and high taxes that people are mostly angry about. People will continue protesting until their situation gets better.
Interesting words: arrest (take to a police station), announce (give official information about something important).
