Skiing accident in Alaska - level 3

03-02-2016 07:00

This is the moment American professional skier Angel Collinson tumbled 1,000 feet (300 metres) down an Alaskan mountain. Collinson was performing a stunt for a ski and snowboard movie, “Paradise Waits,” when she hit an icy patch of snow.

The skier said she tried to use her arms to slow down her descent, but when she failed, she covered her face in order to protect it from icy snowballs on her way down.

“I’m okay! I’m okay!”

Amazingly, Angel was unharmed by the fall, managing to get away with only two jammed fingers and some bruises.

“Yeah, I’m fine, and I can go back up…”

The video is now to be used as a warning to other skiers in an online safety video.

Difficult words: tumble (to fall), stunt (a dangerous action), patch (an area), descent noun (fall), jammed finger (injured in the joint).
