Starlings in Denmark – level 2

18-10-2016 15:00

Every year in autumn, migrating starlings flock together in Denmark. They look for rest and food on their way south for the winter.

Hundreds of thousands of birds swirl into formation against the autumn sky. The show attracts a hundred thousand people each year. There are so many of the birds that they block the view of the sky. That is why people call the biggest Danish nature event Black Sun.

Difficult words: starling (a small songbird), flock (come together), swirl (move in a twisting or spiralling way).

You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
