Sydney is Australia’s oldest and largest city. It was established on 26th January 1788 as a trading centre by the British. There were only about 8000 native people living in this area before the British settlers came. Nowadays over four million people live here. The city is a financial centre and has three universities. It’s a well-known dynamic and cosmopolitan city, famous for its Opera House which was built between 1959 and 1973. The city has a sunny, nice climate which is good for relaxed lifestyle and outdoor activities. Around Sydney there are five major national parks. According to some statistics, Sydney is the 7th best city in the world to live in.
