Hawaii is a beautiful place. You can see very big waves there. The best surfers in the world surf there. They want to break records there. And they also live there because they can surf very big waves every day.

Garrett McNamara broke the world record when he surfed the biggest wave in the world. But he didn’t break this record in Hawaii. It was in Portugal. And the wave was 30 metres high. The last record was 25 metres in 2008. Garrett McNamara is a man from Hawaii and a professional surfer.
