This man was lucky - level 2, A12
This man was very lucky. Manrico Giampedroni worked as a waiter on the Italian ship Costa Concordia. When the ship started to have problems, he was helping other people out. He had an accident and fell down 6 metres into the restaurant which was already half under water.
He broke his leg twice and nobody could help him. Water was going up and he sat on one table and waited. He was hungry. He found a sandwich in the water. He ate it.
The ship went down on Friday and he spent the whole night there, then the next day and the next night. He saw ships from the window but nobody saw him. He was hitting the walls, but nobody heard him. He was cold. It was a terrible situation.
After 36 hours, people found him. He was the last man who got out from the ship alive.
