This man was lucky - level 3, A12
This man was very lucky. Manrico Giampedroni worked as a waiter on the Italian ship Costa Concordia. When the ship started to have problems, he was helping other people out, but he slipped and fell down 6 metres into the restaurant which was already half under water.
He broke his leg twice and nobody could help him. Water was going up and he climbed on one table and waited. He was hungry. He found a sandwich and a bottle of Coke in the water.
The ship went down on Friday and he spent the whole night there, then the following day and the following night. He saw ships from the window but nobody saw him. He was hitting the walls with a frying pan, but nobody heard him. He was cold. It was a terrible situation.
After 36 hours, rescue workers found him. He was the last man who got out of the ship alive.
