Tigers in India – level 1

27-01-2015 15:00

Tigers are in danger. They are losing their habitat. People kill them and sell them. Some Chinese people use tiger body parts as medicine.

Seventy per cent of tigers live in India. There are 2,226 tigers in 47 Indian tiger reserves. India tries to help the tigers. India says that the situation for the tigers gets better.

Difficult words: habitat (an animal’s natural home), medicine (something which helps you when you are sick), reserve (an area where animals, like tigers, can live safely).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

Why should tigers be protected?
