Two cars fell into a river - level 3, A12
A disastrous end to a couple’s wedding day, after two of the wedding party’s cars fell 10 metres into a river when a bridge collapsed in east China’s Shandong Province.
One car was washed downstream and the other became stranded on the river bed and while all of the passengers managed to swim to safety, the driver of one vehicle became stuck.
Rescue teams were called to the scene and having lowered themselves down from the bridge, they removed him through the sunroof.
He was rushed to hospital where he was treated for fractures and head trauma.
It’s thought the incident happened after heavy rains caused subsidence under the bridge.
Interesting words: stranded (not able to move), river bed (bottom of a river), subsidence (moment when some part of land goes down).
