Two ships were hit by another ship – level 2

27-02-2013 14:00

Anti-whaling activists say that two of their ships were hit by a Japanese whaling ship. They want the Australian government to send another ship to help them.

The activists have spent two days trying to stop the Japanese ship from reaching the fuel tanker. Japan is allowed by law to catch 1,000 whales per year for scientific research. Every year activists try to stop the Japanese ships. This is the first clash of this year, but that will probably be many more.

Interesting words: whaling (catching whales), fuel tanker (ship with petrol), clash (fight).
