Two white lions - level 3

Two white lions - level 3

There’s nowhere to hide, nowhere to run to for these rare animals. A pair of white lion cubs goes on show at a zoo in South Korea in what basically looks like a shop window display.

Born five weeks ago at Everland Park in Yongin on the outskirts of the capital Seoul, their white fur caused by a rare colour mutation. Very rare and also very, very cute. Proving a bit hit with visitors, especially the younger ones.

“It’s the first time I’ve seen white lions. They are really cute, and it’s amazing. They're different from the usual lion with their pink soles and noses. Their fur is beautifully white like that of a sheep.” They’re currently being raised by staff and fed milk powder formula. Zoo keeper Choi Ha-Na knows how lucky they are.

“There are only 300 white lions in the world, and now are six here in the zoo. Now these two cubs bring that total up to eight white lions here at Everland Park.”

The cubs will only be introduced to the rest of the family when they are seven months old and less vulnerable.

Difficult words: cub (little lion), outskirts (the outer parts of a city), fur (hair), sole (bottom of the foot), vulnerable (something which can be hurt easily).
