In 1989 he started to be president of Czechoslovakia. Czechoslovakia started to have freedom and democracy. He finished as president of Czechoslovakia in 1992 when the country changed to the Czech Republic and Slovakia. He became president of the Czech Republic in 1993.
A black flag is over Prague Castle now. People put candles in the streets all around the country.
