Very dangerous situation - level 3

25-09-2013 06:00

A terrifyingly close shave in the Australian city of Brisbane as a pedestrian narrowly escapes death after darting in front of an express train going at 60 kilometres an hour (37 miles per hour).

The footage, which shows the man waiting for a train to pass in one direction before pushing open a safety gate only to walk in front of another train, has been released by Queensland Rail.

"The message has to get out there that people are playing Russian roulette with their lives and they will lose. That is the reality."

Authorities said the twenty-year-old escaped with only minor grazes and was fined $2,200.

Difficult words: pedestrian (walker), dart (move somewhere suddenly), minor (small), graze (inured skin), fine (punish).
