Vitali Klitschko in Kharkiv - level 2

Vitali Klitschko in Kharkiv - level 2

17-03-2014 15:00

Vitali Klitschko is Ukrainian presidential candidate. He is pro-Ukrainian, and he does not want Ukraine to be split apart.

He delivered a speech in Kharkiv recently. Some pro-Russian protesters were there, too, and they threw eggs at him. Klitschko continued with an umbrella protecting him.

The Crimea region may become an independent country soon. A referendum is being held on March 16th. It is a chance for people to decide their future fairly and freely. However, there is no room on the ballot paper for voting “no” to control by Russia.

Difficult words: split apart (break into more parts), independent (not controlled by another country), referendum (people vote to make something happen), ballot paper (paper on which you record your vote).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

Do you like the situation in your country?
