Volcano in Chile erupts - level 2
Chile sits on the Pacific Ring of Fire, and it has the second largest chain of volcanos in the world after Indonesia. One of its volcanos, the Calbuco volcano, erupted.
The volcano sent a thick plume of smoke 20 kilometres into the air. Around 4,000 people had to leave the area. People were warned others of possible lahars, which are a mix of water and rock fragments. This mixture flows down from volcanos and destroys everything.
People closed schools and cancelled flights. Luckily, nobody died and nobody was injured.
Difficult words: chain (a series), plume (a tall and thin cloud), fragment (a little piece of something).
You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.
Some people think that the volcano is active because God is angry. What do you think?
