Volcano Mount Etna erupts – level 2

04-03-2013 06:00

Europe's only active volcano, Mount Etna in Italy, sent ash into the air again today, another in a series of recent eruptions. The mountain is 2900 metres high. There were many thick clouds of smoke and ash, but no evacuations from nearby towns and villages.

Mount Etna is located above the Sicilian town of Catania. The volcano erupts regularly but it doesn’t cause much damage.

Interesting words: eruption (explosion of a volcano), damage (destruction).
