Woman falls from a platform - level 3, A12

28-08-2012 22:00

A woman holding her four-year-old son tumbles off a subway platform and onto the tracks.

Commuters in Boston rushed to help Meera Thakrar who said she thought the train opposite was actually on her platform.

Both mother and son were taken to hospital as a precaution. Witnesses say they were incredibly lucky as the pair narrowly missed the electrified third rail.

Interesting words: tumble off (fall quickly from something), commuter (someone who travel to work every day by train or bus), precaution (action to prevent something dangerous).
