Women in Saudi Arabia - level 2

Women in Saudi Arabia - level 2

18-12-2015 07:00

Saudi Arabia is the only country where women are not allowed to drive. However, the country is slowly changing.

For the first time, women were allowed to vote in municipal election. Now, they can stand as candidates, as well.

This is a small step towards democracy and gender equality in the Islamic country.

Difficult words: municipal (relating to a town or a district), election (voting), gender equality (the situation when men and women have same rights and opportunities).

You can read the original story and watch the video in the Level 3 section.

What do you think about Saudi Arabia’s changes?
