Yellow plane on a road - level 3
“We made a turn and decided to put it on State Road 415 because that was the best choice.”
A plane is forced to make an emergency landing on a Florida highway.
The pilot Curtis Boulware was flying with a customer who was set to buy the vintage plane when it suddenly lost power as it approached Spruce Creek Airport.
“As we descended from 5,000 feet, getting closer and closer to Spruce Creek, I made the judgment, and I knew that we weren’t going to make the runway. So instead of continuing on the Spruce Creek and ending up in the woods or in trees, where we probably wouldn’t make it, we made a turn and decided to put it on State Road 415 because that was the best choice.”
Despite the setback, shortly after the emergency landing the plane was able take off safely from the highway and fly to the airport to undergo further inspection.
Difficult words: vintage (old and valuable), descend (move down), judgment (decision), setback (stop).
