Young polar bear in New York – level 3

08-03-2013 06:00

A three-month polar bear cub named Luna has made her debut at Buffalo Zoo in New York. She’s been called Luna because she was born on a full moon but a naming contest is now underway so the public can put forward suggestions for her formal name.

Zoo President Donna Fernandes says the zoo plans to stream live footage of Luna between noon and 3 pm daily because Luna is still too small to exhibit to the public. Buffalo Zoo is just one of two zoos in North America to have a polar bear birth within last year.

Interesting words: debut (first public appearance), underway (happening now), put forward (suggest something).
