A lab in Spain can clone your pet – level 1
04-02-2025 15:00
In Spain, people can pay €55,000 to make a copy of their pet. This process is called cloning.
Christian Morales loses his dog, Lola. He saves her DNA. One day, he can maybe bring her back. But he thinks that it is too expensive now. A lab in Spain helps people clone their pets. The new pet looks the same and acts the same. But some people say it will not be the same dog inside. It will not remember things. It will feel different things. They say cloning does not stop people from feeling sad.
Many people still want to do it. Christian pays 500 euros every year to keep Lola’s DNA. He hopes one day he can have her again.
Difficult words: DNA (a tiny part in your body with genetic information in it), expensive (when something costs a lot of money), hope (to want something in the future).
You can watch the original video in the Level 3 section.
What are some of the concerns people have about cloning their pets, as mentioned in the text?
